Nature & Adventure

Welcome to Nature & Adventure

to Nature & Adventure NZ Tours. Your Auckland born Kiwi guide and owner/operator, Paul Money, will endeavour to make sure you have a bloody good day out! I can honestly say that Auckland (AK) is an awesome city! We are fortunate that within a short drive, you can experience spectacular beaches and safely walk/hike in picturesque rainforest/bush and can comfortably complete my local tours without rushing. Great scenic and nature photo opportunities!

As an international traveller, an adventurer who has been on many tours in the 50 countries I have visited, I have decided that my tours will be more personalised, allowing for your input, before and during the tour. There is nothing worse than being on a bus / mini van with a group of strangers, being dumped at some isolated spot and then waiting for that one person who holds the whole group up. Even worse, imagine arriving at a spectacular beach on a hot sunny day and your driver says, “no swimming”. On my tours, beach towels and umbrellas are provided.

Please note that I have had training in South Africa as a Field Guide/Game Ranger and that I will be able to protect you from our ferocious cows and man-eating sheep – haha. (My daughter speaks Africaans and French and may be able to come on your tour, if requested.)

No problem if you would like to email me and chat about what you or you group would like to do and get a quote for your tour. My focus is to cater for couples/small groups up to 12 persons max but if you are here in AK alone and want a private tour/day out of the city, then please email or even phone me.

Look forward to meeting you!
Paul

PERSONAL TOUR

Whether you are an individual or a group, I can be your personal driver for the day or longer if required.

Individual – got a day to kill and don’t want to hang out with a crowd, email me or give me a call and we can work out something – better than sitting in your hotel room all day or wondering around souvenir shops.

Group – Perhaps you’ve created your own tour and just want me to be your guide. Or maybe you’ve rented a vehicle and want a driver, so everyone in your group can relax and enjoy NZ without having to drive on our narrow, windy, single lane highways.

Cruise Ship visitors – don’t want to do one of the ships excursions but got an idea what you would like to do and when you want to be back on the ship. I’ve been on 13 cruises and the one thing that puts me off Cruise tours, is the thought of being on a slow tour with 40 people. My tours are for 12 passengers max, so we see and do more, without rushing. Send me an email, lets work out a tour that suits you.

TRAVEL TIPS

SUN & suntaning – DON’T get burnt on holidays.

With no OZONE layer, NZ has no protection from the Sun’s ultra-violet rays, so you will burn within 10-15minutes, if you do not cover up.

When at the beach, do the Kiwi thing, wear a rash-shirt or tee-shirt while swimming and a high rating / high quality suntan lotion.

Danger months Dec – March !

WEATHER

Auckland is a sub-tropical city, so it never gets really cold.

Winter nights might get close to zero Celsius but during the days it typically 12-15C.

Summer (Jan-Mar) can be very hot. You might read that our max. temp is about 28C in AK, but it feels like 40C at times, as we have no Ozone layer to protect us from the Sun.

We seldom have constant rain, we have more like passing showers, so if you are out and about, wait 5-10minutes, good chance the shower will clear.

Bring a lightweight waterproof windbreaker.

CURRENCY

Currencies fluctuate all the time, so consider monitoring your exchange rate against the Kiwi dollar and you might find it worth while to purchase some cash and pay for your tours in NZ in advance.

Example:

I had guests from USA in Dec.2010.

The US$ exchange rate was US0.72cents to the NZ$.

In June 2011, the rate was US0.86 to the NZ$.

Sept. 2011, the rate was US0.74 to the NZ$.

CRIME

We are no different from other Western countries, we have criminals, so DON’T create opportunities for them:-

Do NOT leave any valuables in rental vehicles, whether you are in a city or in some isolated spot. If you must, lock them in the boot or if there is a lockable glovebox.

Do NOT leave handbags or anything of value on display in rental vehicles and lock your vehicle at all times – at the Petrol Station or even stopping at a corner store !

Want to bring a handbag on one of my beach tours, fine, but you will look silly in the surf wearing your handbag.
